Pearl Preparedness Roundtable & Fundraiser ***New Location at Pinnacle Pavilion***

If you live or work in a multi-story building and want to be prepared for an emergency, join this round table discussion. The Pearl District continues with their second Roundtable Discussion about Emergency Preparedness. The upcoming topic includes potable water and emergency sanitation. Join your neighbors on Thursday, March 29,
2012, 5:30 PM at Pinnacle Pavilion, 1210 NW 10th Avenue on the Streetcar line. Note that this is a new location. For more information, contact Bill Dolan.

Get ready for emergencies and raise money for the PDNA. A fundamental of disaster preparedness is keeping basic emergency supplies at hand. Response agencies at the recent Emergency Preparedness Round Table explained that area residents may be isolated and on their own for days after a disaster. That’s why the Pearl District Neighborhood Association is teaming with Ready Set Go Kits to help you prepare quickly, easily and affordably.  Ready Set Go Kits, a local business, will donate 10% of your purchase to help fund programs of the non-profit PDNA when you enter code “NWNW” at checkout.

NW Heights Annual Meeting & Elections 3/21

Date: March 21st, 2012
Time: 7:00 – 9:00 PM
Place: TVF&R Station 60, 8585 Northwest Johnson Street, Portland, OR

Please plan to attend the annual meeting of the Northwest Heights Neighborhood Association to elect a board and vote to adopt new bylaws. NW Heights has been quiet for the last several years. This meeting is key to restarting the neighborhood association and represents the collective efforts of members from several homeowners associations and areas of the neighborhood with a variety of interests. Northwest Heights includes the Forest Heights, Alder Ridge 1&2, Forest Summit, Skyline Summit, Pinnacle Pointe, Ridgeview, and Blue Point subdivisions.

Neighborhood Associations differ from subdivisions and homeowner associations in that they are independent non-profits supported by the City of Portland to organize volunteers who advocate for improvements to transportation systems, public safety and land use, and address concerns about the environment, schools and local quality of life.

We encourage you to sign up to become a member in advance of the meeting. It’s free and is a right that all Portlanders enjoy. To become a member, or to learn more about the proposed bylaws, visit their online splash page. For additional information contact Mark Sieber, Executive Director at Neighbors West-Northwest, 503 823-4212.

by Jerry Grossnickle, President

Forest Park Neighborhood Association has been hosting Question & Answer sessions with Portland’s mayoral candidates at its regularly scheduled monthly meetings. FPNA rescheduled Eileen Brady and Jefferson Smith for March 20, 2012. The meetings begin at 7 PM at 360 NW Greenleaf Avenue, and the candidates will be first on the agenda at this public meeting. If other candidates announce and ask for time, FPNA will do its best to accommodate them.
