October is National Crime Prevention Awareness Month, which is the official month for recognizing the practice of crime prevention, as well as promoting awareness of important issues such as victimization, volunteerism, and creating safer, more connected communities. To celebrate, there are some exciting activities happening all around Portland.
The Office of Neighborhood Involvement Crime Prevention Program and our public safety partners are planning the following events for the month of October:
- Transportation Safety Trainings on bicycle and public transit safety
- An engraving party on October 29th at the Kenton Firehouse from 7-9pm
- A Graffiti Clean Up
- A Community Policing Reception honoring SW Portland officers on October 24th
- Brown Bags (lunch presentations) covering crime prevention as well as the 9-1-1 and the non-emergency system for the police
There’s fun to be had for the whole family, and we look forward to seeing you throughout the month of October. Stay tuned for more information about upcoming events.
