Hillside Community Forum: Architecutre, Possible HCC Closure & Cornell’s Safety

The Hillside Neighborhood Association would like to invite you to a Neighborhood forum to learn about topics important to our community and, in some cases, in need of your support.  We have lined up three topics of interest with presentations and time for Q&A with the presenters.

Date:  Wednesday May 2, 2012
Time: 7:00 PM
Place: Hillside Community Center, Main Building

7:00        Anthony Belluschi FAIA, Consulting Architect
Tony Belluschi, architect son of Pietro Belluschi, (the original architect for the Community Center), will speak about an upcoming exhibit in May at the Oregon Historical Society which he has designed and co-curated with his wife, Marti. The exhibit is titled, “The Architecture and Legacy of Pietro Belluschi.”  Tony will give us a preview of the exhibit highlights and some personal insights into Pietro’s long and richly productive career.  Tony and Marti are new members of our Hillside Neighborhood Association.

7:30        Mike Abbaté, Portland Parks Director and Eileen Argentina, Services Zone Manager
Mike, Eileen and Portland Parks staff will explain the recurring threat to the Hillside Community Center and how they propose to defeat it.

8:00      Peter Stark, Committee Chair, Cornell Road Sustainability Coalition
Peter will present the plans now being considered to make Cornell a more neighborhood friendly street, with safer access and better managed usage.

Please join us for what should be an informative and inspiring evening on topics that affect you where you live. For more information, contact Gary Berger, Hillside Neighborhood Association President.
